What may cause system crash?

1. Hardware conflict:

The number one reason why Windows crashes is hardware conflict. Each hardware device communicates to other devices through an interrupt request channel (IRQ). These are supposed to be unique for each device. If there are a lot of devices, or if they are not installed properly, two of them may end up sharing the same IRQ number. When the user tries to use both devices at the same time, a crash may happen.

2. Bad Ram:

Ram (random-access memory) problems might bring on the blue screen of death with a message saying Fatal Exception Error. A fatal error indicates a serious hardware problem. Sometimes it may mean a part is damaged and need to be replaced. Also a fatal error caused by Ram might be caused by a mismatch of chips.

3. Mistaken BIOS settings:
Every motherboard is supplied with a range of chipset settings that are decided in the factory. A common BIOS error concerns the CAS latency which refers to the Ram. Older EDO (extended data out) Ram has a CAS latency of 3. Newer SD Ram has a CAS latency of 2. Wrong figure setting may cause the Ram to lock up and freeze the computer's display.

4. Hard disk drives overload:

After a few weeks, the information on a hard disk drive starts to become piecemeal or fragmented. It is a good idea to defragment the hard disk every week or so, to prevent the disk from a screen freeze. Hard disks will also slow down and crash if be stuffed with too much data.

5. Viruses attack:

The first sign of a virus infection is instability. Some viruses will erase the boot sector of a hard drive to cause a start failure. This is why it is a good idea to create a start-up disk in case of such situation.

6. Software conflict:

A common cause of computer crash is faulty or badly-installed software, as well as the incompatible problem among software. Most of the time, such kind of problem can be solved by uninstalling the software and then reinstalling it or remove references of the program in the System Registry by other tools.

7. Power supply problems :

Unstable voltage or abrupt power failure can cause a computer crash easily.

If it is a headache for you then an uninterrupted power supply (UPS) which provides a stable power supply might be a good choice for you. UPS will give you a few minutes to perform a normal shutdown.

System crash reasons mentioned above are just some typical ones. To reduce the system crash or data loss, we highly recommend you to backup the system. Here we would like to recommend free system backup and restore software - EASEUS Todo Backup. Once there is something wrong with your system, just run system restore function. Besides, this free backup software also provide some other functions to backup partition or disk, transfer data, see more features…

How to restore system after crash?
If the system crashed and you cannot access the system, you can use the bootable disk to restore system with the previous backup image. Since you may not see the drive letters with the bootable CD. If you are not sure about the partitions, we suggest you assign a label to each partition before restoring system partition from bootable CD/DVD.
